The pitch comes alive

Real turf and painted lines, the first match rules, broadcast-style restart banners, and goals that only count once the whole ball crosses the line.

Day 7THE PITCHCOMES ALIVE

Tonight the green box became a pitch.

  • Real grass. Quixel turf with the field lines drawn procedurally in the material, so the markings are crisp at any distance and I can resize the pitch without repainting anything.
  • Match rules. The ball going out now means something: throw-in, corner, or goal kick depending on where it crossed and who touched it last.
  • Restart banners. A broadcast-style banner drops in and play freezes for two seconds, the way a TV broadcast holds on a decision.
  • Goals count properly. A goal is only a goal once the whole ball has crossed the whole line. Previously the ball touching the line was enough, which is not football.

None of these are headline features. All of them are the difference between a tech demo and a thing that feels like a match.

Shipped: turf + procedural lines · out-of-bounds rules · restart banners
