The first playable pass

Bought a mocap pack, retargeted it, and wired a pass so the ball releases on the exact frame the boot meets it. Press A. He passes. To a team-mate.

Day 17ON THECONTACT FRAME

You can now actually play the match.

Press A and your player fires a real motion-captured pass, and the ball releases on the exact frame his boot meets it, straight to a team-mate. Control switches to the receiver as the ball arrives.

This sounds small. It is the first playable action in the game, and the way it is built is the way everything after it will be built: the ball does not teleport when the animation ends. The animation says when contact happens, and the ball goes on that frame. Slow it down and the boot meets the ball. That sync is the whole difference between "an animation plays, then the ball moves" and a footballer kicking a football.
